Brenda Chavez is a rising Junior at The University of Texas at Austin, where she is pursuing a Bachelor of Science and Arts in Biology with a concentration in Music. She is currently on a Pre-Medical health professional pathway and aspires to gain admission into medical school in the near future. Brenda is interested in language and cognitive development in Mexican-American children and is looking to participate in related research at UT.

As an aspiring healthcare professional, Brenda has taken an active membership in the Latinx Health Professions Organization (LHPO) and a Pre-Health organization called Delta Epsilon Sigma. She has also integrated herself into her student body and continued to pursue her musical interests by taking part in the Longhorn Pep Band.

Brenda was a Top Ten graduate of Ysleta High School, with over 100 thousand dollars in scholarships earned. She is an Ysleta Education Fund Scholar. Brenda aspires to further her passion for the sciences and become a successful physician specializing in family medicine. As a first-generation student, she would like the opportunity to give back to her community by advocating for their health in the medical field.
